How to Set Up IPTV on a Smart TV in Australia (Samsung & LG, 2026)
To watch IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV in Australia, install an IPTV player app (IPTV Smarters, IBO Player or Smart IPTV) from the TV's own app store, open it, and enter the login details your IPTV provider sends you. No Firestick, box or extra hardware is required.
Samsung TVs run Tizen and LG TVs run webOS — both have their own app stores with several capable IPTV players. This guide covers the setup for both brands, the best app choices in 2026, and what to do if an app isn't available in the Australian store region.

What you'll need
- A Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) Smart TV from roughly 2018 onwards — Hisense/TCL with Google TV can simply use the Android instructions
- An active IPTV subscription or free 24h trial
- 25 Mbps+ internet, ideally with the TV on Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi
No subscription yet? Start with a free 24-hour trial — it works perfectly with this guide.
Step-by-step setup
- 1
Open your TV's app store
On Samsung, press Home and open “Apps”. On LG, press Home and open the “LG Content Store”. Make sure the TV is connected to the internet and signed in to a Samsung/LG account if prompted.
- 2
Search for an IPTV player
Search “IPTV Smarters”, “IBO Player” or “Smart IPTV (SIPTV)”. Availability varies by region and year — install whichever appears. Our current recommendation for most Australian Samsung/LG TVs is IBO Player or IPTV Smarters where available.
- 3
Open the app and note the device details
Players like IBO and Smart IPTV show a MAC address (and sometimes a device key) on first launch. Players like Smarters instead show a login form — if you see a login form, skip to the next step.
- 4
Add your subscription
For login-style apps: choose Xtream Codes login and enter the username, password and server URL from your WhatsApp welcome message. For MAC-style apps (IBO/SIPTV): send us the MAC address shown on screen and we attach your playlist to it within minutes.
- 5
Reload and start watching
Restart the app — your channel categories, EPG and movie library appear. Add Australian channels and your sports to Favourites for one-click access on game day.
- 6
Optional: upgrade the experience with a stick
Native TV apps are good; a $60–90 Firestick or Google TV stick is better (faster, TiviMate support, more frequent app updates). If your TV is pre-2018 or its store lacks IPTV apps entirely, the stick is the easy fix — see our Firestick guide.

Troubleshooting common problems
The app isn't in my TV's store
App availability differs by TV year and region. Try the alternatives (IBO Player, Smart IPTV, Flix IPTV) — or plug in a Firestick, which solves it permanently and unlocks TiviMate. We support every player, so your subscription works either way.
“Playlist expired” or blank screen in IBO/SIPTV
MAC-based apps need your playlist attached to the TV's MAC address — if the TV was reset or the app reinstalled, the MAC may have changed. Send us the new MAC on WhatsApp and we'll re-attach it.
Picture stutters on 4K channels
Put the TV on Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi and check you're getting 50 Mbps at the TV. Older Smart TV chips can also struggle with 4K60 — the FHD versions of sports channels look excellent and run flawlessly on any TV.
App keeps logging out
Usually the TV clearing app data on auto-update. Re-enter your details, and disable the TV's automatic app data cleanup if the setting exists. Your login itself never changes.
Smart TV — frequently asked questions
Do I need a Firestick if I have a Smart TV?
No — modern Samsung and LG TVs run IPTV apps natively and most of our customers stream directly on the TV. A Firestick is an optional upgrade for a faster interface and TiviMate support.
Which IPTV app is best on Samsung TV in Australia?
In 2026: IBO Player or IPTV Smarters where available in the Tizen store. Both handle 35,000+ channel lists smoothly. If neither shows in your region, Smart IPTV (SIPTV) is a solid MAC-based fallback.
Will this work on a Hisense, TCL or Sony TV?
Yes. Hisense/TCL/Sony TVs running Google TV or Android TV use the Play Store — install IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate directly (our TiviMate guide applies). Older Hisense VIDAA TVs have IPTV players in the VIDAA store too.
Does a Smart TV IPTV app cost anything?
Most players are free; some MAC-based apps (Smart IPTV, IBO) charge a one-time activation of a few dollars after a trial week. Your IPTV subscription from us is the only recurring cost — from $15 AUD/month.
